Meet Timothy

Although this is Tim’s first time running for office, he is no stranger to being a leader in Cheney. He spent over 38 years working for the Cheney Fire Department and starting as a volunteer, working his way up to a full-time Battalion Chief and Fire Marshall. He’s been keeping Cheney safe for almost 40 years and wants to keep it up with a new role that is more in line with this new stage in his life. He also spent 4 years teaching fire and life safety as a high school teacher, along with pursuing his other love of track and field as a coach. However, he couldn’t have achieved any of this without the education he received.

Tim is a lifelong learner and seeks to continue learning how to make Cheney a better place for families. He graduated from Cheney High School in 1986.  Went on to attend Central Washington University, Spokane Community College, and Cheney’s own Eastern Washington University, achieving his associate's degree in Fire Science and his Vocational Teaching Certificate. You’d be hard pressed to find a more die-hard Eagle anywhere, as one of Tim’s favorite hobbies is going to every Eagles game he can. He even travels all around the country for away games and this is just one way Tim stays involved with Cheney.

Tim didn’t just serve the community at his work; he also spent much of his time staying engaged. He spent over 20 years with the Spokane Safe Kids Coalition as a Child Passenger Safety Technician, helping new families keep their kids safe. He was also a volunteer escort on an Honor Flight. He took park in the Cheney Fire Department’s “Fill the Boot” drive and even served on the Supervisory Committee for Cheney Federal Credit Union. One of Tim’s other biggest passions was heading community service projects at the local Temple Lodge in Cheney, which he has done for over 24 years. No matter what way you look at it, Tim has spent his whole life with his hand in almost everything in Cheney.

Tim may be new to the Cheney City Council, but he is no stranger to Cheney. Nor is he a stranger to serving Cheney. You may have seen him putting out fires, or maybe he even took care of you or your family. He may have taught you or coached you on how to run faster in track. Or maybe he put him in your car seat, or you saw him cheering on the Eagles at a football game. But no matter where you saw him, Tim has always been
